360 Designs Introduces the World’s First Broadcast Quality 6K VR Drone

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Live streaming VR pioneers, 360 Designs, today announced the release of Flying EYE™, the world’s first broadcast quality, live streaming, virtual reality drone. Flying EYE is the first drone system capable of streaming live, 6K, 360 video, with a range of over 5 miles.

Flying EYE marks a major advancement in live streaming video technology. Using a custom wireless transmission system – Breeze™ – developed exclusively by 360 Designs, live VR streams can be broadcast anywhere in the world in ultra-high quality, and streamed live to YouTube, Facebook or VR headsets. Viewers can get a sense of flying “like a bird” as they hover above sporting, news, and music events.

Varavon Shows Us a Unique 3-Axis VR Drone, By Sebastian Wöber

The Varavon 3-Axis VR Drone is a large virtual reality camera platform with a special gimbal design that holds the camera array steady even during fast movements and strong wind. At their booth at Photokina, the guys from Varavon showed us how the gimbal stabilization works. Unfortunately, they were not allowed to fly the drone in the convention center halls or even outside due to drone laws in Germany.

GoPro introduces the GoPro Hero 5, Session Hero 5 and the Karma drone system, By Richard Sisk


I just watched to GoPro “Karma” event live and was very impressed with the whole Karma drone system. In addition, the GoPro Hero 5 and the new version of the GoPro Session where announced. There was no mention of VR during the event, however it occurred to me that the tiny Session 5 cameras might be adapted into a tiny VR rig. Such a tiny camera would have an advantage in reducing parallax error in a VR configuration. Whether sync is possible on the Session 5 with the lack of connections is one big question…
