Behringer’s affordable DeepMind 12 synthesizer is getting a rather unique interface, adding to its already long list of features. The synth will come with a pioneering augmented reality system, adding a real time 3D visualization to the world around you.
This brand new interface can be used to control a number of elements – while the patching (where you manipulate the envelope and oscillators with your hands above the keyboard) seems slightly gimmicky, the practical applications could be useful. Particularly interesting is the ability to be able to show – using markers on the synth’s keys – the correct notes in a scale so you can always stay on key. Who needs skills, anyway?
